What renovating homeowners are choosing
Houzz surveys its users about their kitchen remodels. The 2026 study is national, not Salt Lake specific, but it's a useful read on what people pick1.

Shaker doors lead by a wide margin. Engineered quartz is still the most chosen counter material, though its share fell 7 points from the year before, and more than half of renovating homeowners changed their kitchen layout1.
What's changing in bathrooms
In the 2026 Houzz Bathroom Trends Study, a tub comes out in 26% of bathroom projects. When it does, 79% of those homeowners use the space for a bigger shower2.
If a walk in shower is on your list, bring it up at the consultation. Moving plumbing can change the plan: in Salt Lake City, altering plumbing systems needs a permit3. Ask the remodeler how your layout affects the work and the price.
Turning a look into a budget
Cabinets set much of a kitchen's look, and a big share of its cost. In NKBA's kitchen budget breakdown, cabinetry and hardware take about 29% of the total, more than any other line4.
